if you haven't seen this yet - go to this Youtube link to see "Going on a Bear Hunt".  I saw this projected on the wall for kids today and they LOVED IT!  (Thanks, Caroline!)   There are other kids songs available.  Check it out:

color yellow practice…(works for ALL COLORS!!!!!) Ideas from Becky:

-  Children bring things for show and tell that were the color yellow
-   Provide  die cuts of things which are yellow and glue them onto construction paper
-  Provide the word "yellow"on sentence strips and have them practice writing the word

Germ Science activity:
For one of my small groups we’re doing potato germs experiment  – cut a potato in half, put 1 half in a zip lock baggie and the other potato the students can rub on the floor, on the lockers etc, (walk through the school). Make sure to put them in a dark cupboard. 1 week later come back to the potatoes and talk about germs and the fact that even though we can’t see them, they’re there and they can make us sick. Then elaborate on how to keep ourselves clean… the following week you do your small group on having them draw about the experiment and dictate their words on paper. That will tell me how much or how little their oral language/vocabulary is and how elaborate they can get.

The assistant's small group is doing “Here are my Hands.” She’ll read from the big book and the kids can follow along in their small books. She is going to be teaching how to hold a book, how to turn the pages, and about the title. Then they’ll stamp their hands (using the circular ink stampers) and stamp them on a paper that says, “Here are my hands/Aqui estan mis manos.” They’ll also talk about how our hands are a part of our body. (Remind them of: keeping our hands and feet to ourselves.”  (submitted by Andie)

Independent Groups:  We’re going to be reading “Rainbow Fish/El Pez arcoiris” and discuss how to be nice to our friends and what happens when we are not nice to our friends. I’m looking for an independent activity that they can do as a follow up to this book.

Okay - the request has come out!  Now that rain is upon us and the playground may not be accessible, share your ideas for what to do on a rainy day with a class full of kids...

It is upon us - a brand new year!   As we get started, lets try using this blog as a source for using ideas.  You are sharing ideas today after planning with your team.  I will have captured some of your ideas and will post them next.   Let me know if there is anything else you would wish we could do with this blog.

Thanks in advance for reaching high and blessing our newest "lambs".

Hey, gang!  Kristy thought of this idea.  If you have something in your room you want to "give away" (not children), post it here on this blog.  Let everyone know at once what you want to share.  Advertise your furniture or materials give aways!

HOPEFULLY this new look will make it easier to read each others' ideas.  Anyone looking for another idea?  Post your request in a comment and we can respond!

Welcome to AISD Early Childhood Idea Forum!
Remember when we had our online classes and we were able to post conversations back and forth?  We are going to see if this blog format will work for getting the idea sharing going the same way.

To kick it off, lets share ideas for center enhancements for spring time.
